What is tracking?
Tracking is a test of the dog's ability to follow ground scent and identify articles along the way. Dogs are trained to follow ground scent where a person or persons has walked. The ground scent is made up of some personal scent from the person as well as scent created by the crushing of soil, vegetation and organisms on the ground.
What will you learn during training with me?
Tracker Dog course is designed to give you skills needed to successfully track with your dog. You will learn how to get started, how and when to track, how to lay a track, how to progress from simple straight track to longer tracks with turns in all wind conditions.
Why should you try dog tracking?
- Dogs love it. It is instinctive for a dog to follow its nose.
- Suitable for all breeds and ages, even puppies.
- Dogs find high concentration tiring. They settle down nicely after a tracking session.
- It helps develop the relationship between dog and handler.
- Low risk of injury compared with other dog sports.
